I am Julie Wang, a painter based in France.

I primarily work with oil paints, focusing particularly on colors, small everyday details, and simple emotions. My world is born from what we sometimes look at too quickly: a soft light, an animal presence, a landscape, a familiar object, a silence, or a discreet emotion that we hold within ourselves.

I believe that beautiful emotions don't require grand narratives. They are often found in ordinary things, small details, and simple moments that we take the time to observe.

- How the works are born

My works are born from simple everyday elements: a sleeping cat, a gazing dog, a cake, a fruit, a light, a landscape, a presence, or a barely perceptible sensation.

I don't aim to tell a specific story. Instead, I prefer to let an impression emerge, an inner color, a form of softness, or a discreet truth that painting can capture.

With my colors, I transform these ordinary details into joyful, tender, and sensitive works. I don't seek to make life more perfect, but to look differently at what is already there.

- Why oil paint

I primarily work with oil paint, a medium whose slowness aligns with my painting approach.

The layering, drying times, reworkings, and successive balances allow me to deepen the color, texture, and presence of the painting. The form is not always decided in advance; it often appears gradually, through color, gesture, and time.

This slowness allows me to stay close to what I feel, without forcing the image or freezing the emotion too quickly.

- Entering the artwork

Each canvas is conceived as an open space.

I don't impose meaning. I allow the gaze to linger, to breathe, to recognize something without being told what it is.

If a softness, a familiarity, a calm joy, or a form of appeasement appears in my paintings, they come as a silent encounter between the work and the viewer.

Through my work, I hope to invite everyone to slow down, to look differently, and to find a little beauty in the ordinary details of life.
